Why Australia?

The reason I chose Australia was because of it's unique penal history. Australia was founded when the United Kingdom, specifically Great Britain, began sending their unwanted convicts there to work.  The small penal colony eventually grew into modern-day Australia and now has its own unique form of government. While in Australia, I learned how Australia's government and criminal justice system differs from the United States. It was interesting to compare the two countries especially since we both stemmed from the same mother country, Great Britain.
